The rare bird of fashion

Observer Woman Magazine no 48 January 2010

I love trawling through the Sunday papers on Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed. By Wednesday I have nearly got to the end of them. There is something quite wonderful about Sunday papers can't put my finger on it. By Monday you can find bits of the papers all around the house, been read, to be read, re-cycling bin without been read, money, motoring, and football. I came across a treasure of an interview about Iris Apfel the fashion muse of the moment who is inspiring anybody who's anybody. At the age off 88 she describes herself as a "geriatric starlet" She has had a passion and obsession for dressing up all her life and her book has just been published Rare bird of fashion: The Irreverent Iris Apfel By Eric Bowman and Harold Koda. I can't wait to get it.

She, habitually finds clothes so cheap she doesn't bother to try them on. "What the hell", she says to herself, "if they don't fit, I 'll turn them in to pillows"
Observer Woman Magazine.

She is a true inspiration, and I was delighted to see in the above photo that she wears nearly as many bangles and beads as me. I drive everybody mad with incessant clanking of bangles and beads all day long. You can never have enough bangles on! Unless of course like the other day I had to give blood and it's a real ******* to get them off in a hurry. It is also absolutely impossible to do anything quietly or sneakily.

  3. oh my gosh I thought I was alone on this planet with my bangles...I love them and sunday mags which I get people to save for me, they are like confectionery full of interesting sweet delicacies that fashion mags are not in the slightest bit interested in! x
