do re me fa so la te do

I have been working on a collection of reclaimed and vintage pieces which include chairs, foot stools, piano stools and any other beauties that come into my sights. Each piece is unique and has been lovingly restored with hand embroidered designs. This one has the two grumpy budgies practising their scales. When you open the piano stool it is hand painted with a beautiful little design. Some of these pieces will be creep in into my shop, later this week. Patchworkbutterfly shop

When is a pot not a pot ?

My lifetimes obsession of gardening at this time of year reaches fever pitch. My garden is tumbling over with plants and I don't have enough room really for anymore. But you see something new or unusual and you have to start becoming more creative about what you are using to house your plants in. So I have decided on a two prong attack more plants means more pots. I have lots of old junk that I keep for a rainy day so I have started planting in anything that has drainage and will hold soil and plants. First was my mums beloved Jones machine that stopped working a while ago but I kept it in my studio as it holds sentimental value. I didn't want to throw it out so cut off the top to use as a wonderful plant pot. I love it! I have been growing veggies in old tins of food, geraniums in a row of old handbags and cress in dolls heads. So I ask the question when is a pot not a pot?

wild fennel is in the details

I am so fortunate to live in a world surrounded by wonderfully creative people. I would like to share with you a little snippet of Wild fennels world - this is a colourful and busy space where everything is carefully placed and ordered, which could so easily descend into chaos but doesn't. It is a space where the past, present and future blend together with such ease and so beautifully.
Wild fennel home is one of abundance in textures pattern and colour it is a place full of creativity and always leaves me feeling inspired.

1 extra pint please !

My sister found me these beautiful old milk bottles, I love them so much.I think they look perfect on the doorstep outside my front door full of flowers from my garden. It has made people smile and laugh as they have passed today. In the days before the mass mass marketing when I was a child this along with our cereal packet was our first blast of marketing of the day.

love matches

love matches can be found in my shop patchworkbutterfly

I have always been fascinated by matchboxes and as a child I used to spend the whole summer holidays cramming matchboxes with hundreds of pieces of treasure and then take great delight at lining them up and making my very own museum collection, labelling and cataloguing each piece. I still love them and have started my little collection of love matches each heart inside is hand embroidered with a little loving couple with secret messages hand embroidered on the back. The idea came from conversations with friends about love and the lack of it in their lives and did I know anybody who I could match them up with. I have already made one with "will you marry me" embroidered on the back. Happy weekend full of love !!!!!!
